Italy Next Year? What to Expect in 2025

Italy makes the list as a perennial favorite among Europe destinations. What’s not to love about visiting Rome, Florence, Milan, Venice, Naples and more with wonderful food, wine and culture?

In 2025, the Catholic Church celebrates a Jubilee Year, traditionally celebrated every 25 years. The last “scheduled” Jubilee was in 2000, with a special Jubilee called in 2015.

Jubilee marks a yearlong celebration by and for the Catholic faithful and will begin this Christmas Eve. It runs through Epiphany in January 2026, centered at the Vatican, already a hugely popular destination. Over the special year, millions will make pilgrimage to Rome, Vatican City and Italy as a whole.

Do you want to be a part of it? We’ve seen estimates ranging from 5 million to 25 million Jubilee visitors expected.

If you are traveling independently and want to make the journey, you will want to secure all your reservations earlier than usual and can expect prices higher than normal. Demand is high, and prices will follow.

If you are not feeling adventurous but want to be a part of Jubilee, there are many choices and faith-based tours. Tour operators grab hotel allocations early to ensure they uphold their usual standards and are keeping prices manageable.

If you are not among the faithful, don’t like even larger crowds and have other destinations in mind, this might be the year to pass on Italy.
